Pokémon Go update: latest news and features

Pokémon Go quickly became a mammoth mobile gaming success virtually from day one. Niantic's blockbuster game creates a mirror of the real world using augmented reality, assisted with smartphones’ cameras and GPS chips. This allows players to find, catch and train pokémon (or pokémen) in their own neighborhoods. In this article, we list each Pokémon Go update for the Android app to help you track new features and versions.

Pokémon Go update brings 'minor text fixes'

July 20, 2016: This update to Pokémon Go seemed a long time coming, but in reality is very minimal. Released only a couple of days ago, the Play Store release notes for version 0.29.3 contain only, “minor text fixes”. The iPhone got an update via version 1.0.3 in Apple’s App Store. Perhaps the update was rushed out, as Niantic didn’t give any details for what the fixes were and, ironically, the release notes themselves don’t even contain correct grammar.

Apart from not addressing frozen Pokeballs or three-footstep bugs, this update also crashed servers, as was reported on Twitter and other websites. While a small update is better than none, it’s obvious that Pokémon Go is buggy and needs a polish. We’ll update you when it gets one.

Pokémon Go launches, world goes crazy

July 6, 2016: The first stable version available to Android users was 0.29.0. This was only available in the US, Australia and New Zealand on launch day, which was July 6, 2016. Even though it wasn’t available elsewhere from the Play Store, millions of fans across the globe downloaded the Pokémon Go APK from sites like apkmirror.com.

The game was definitely buggy on launch day, but the huge hype surrounding what had been for many people an unknown type of gaming experience meant that little attention was paid to the software’s flaws. But we waited for an update to arrive and, soon enough, one arrived.

Pokémon Go global release

The global rollout of Pokémon Go didn’t happen all at once, and with good reason. With server issues affecting players in multiple countries – Germany on launch day, for example – the release was gradual.

Pokemon update: Pokemon Go evolving and secret to unlocking Jolteon, Vaporeon and Flareon

EVOLVING POKEMON in in Nintendo and Niantic’s new hit mobile title, Pokemon Go, can appear a bit of a grind until you find out some of the secret tricks to speed things up.

First the basics, every time you catch a Pokemon of a particular species, you’ll receive Candy for that species.

Evolution requires a different amount of Candy for each species. Pokemon that require more Candy to evolve tend to show greater gains in CP.

That’s why Pokemon Go's Magikarp has such an outrageous appetite for Candy, 400 will turn him into a Gyrados, quite the jump in firepower.

Evolved Pokemon generally have higher CP and HP, making them a valuable addition to your collection.

And just to be clear, you’ll still have the same number of Pokémon in your collection after completing an Evolution. The Pokemon you selected has evolved—transforming into an evolved Pokemon—so you haven’t gained or lost in total Pokemon.

Until you have enough Candy, you won't be able to evolve your Pokemon. You can view the amount of Candy needed to evolve your Pokemon in the Pokemon’s summary.

To evolve a Pokemon :
  •     In Map View, touch the Main Menu
  •     Touch Pokémon
  •     From your list of Pokémon, select one Pokémon to evolve.
  •     On the Pokémon’s summary, touch the Evolve Button
Catching Pokemon earn three candy and transferring Pokemon to Professor Willow earns you one more, meaning that it is definitely worth catching those low-level Rattas and Pidgeys you always run into.

Candy is also earned when you hatch Pokemon eggs, baby Pokemon usually give out more than three Candies, place the egg you found at the Pokestop in an incubator, and the egg will hatch into a Pokémon as you walk.

By grabbing a big haul of these Pocket Monsters, you can then hand them in and grab a stash of Candies, after which you can evolve your strongest specimens.

One trick some trainers in Urban areas employ is to find a place with a lot of Pokestops that can be accessed almost at once.

Dropping a lure will bring more Pokemon to your location, you can also keep spinning the Pokestops following their cooldown of a couple of minutes to grab fresh Pokeballs and other useful items.

By saving up the Pokemon that can evolve, you can then level up faster - 100 EXP for each evolve - unlocking more items and stronger Pokemon to choose from.

How Old Hollywood Is Becoming The Entertainment Capital Once Again

Hollywood is going back to its future.

As entertainment industry heavy hitters like Netflix and Viacom prepare to move to the birthplace of the motion picture industry, Hollywood is changing to accommodate them. Sparked by huge real estate appreciation in previous stomping grounds like Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, cleaned up neighborhood streets, and valuable creatives choosing to live in nearby Eastside communities, the original Tinseltown is shining once again. And that’s changing the face of a neighborhood — and creating one that’s developing in tune with the changing needs of Hollywood: the industry. But because it’s California — and Hollywood always needs some drama — a pair of ballot measures could write a different ending to Hollywood’s current episode.

Two of the newest and most notable projects in the heart of old Hollywood are the Taft Building and the Eastown Apartments, both developed by DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners and Clarett West Development. The Taft, where Charlie Chaplin once had an office, holds down a corner of the intersection of Hollywood and Vine, one of its oldest marquee crossroads. Eastown is just a few blocks away.

Hollywood’s years of being a less favored destination for the industry’s employees themselves has resulted in a lot of its housing stock being made up of often architecturally pleasing Spanish-style apartments that feel like old Hollywood, but are not necessarily aligned with the needs of today’s creatives.

“What is different today — and more so in Hollywood — is that our project needed to function as a resident’s home, office, social club, pool, et cetera,” said Frank Stephan, a partner at DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners and its subsidiary Clarett West Development who oversaw the construction of Eastown. “We knew that if we delivered the right product to the customer, we could be successful because people want a live-work-play neighborhood.”

For example, Eastown’s crown jewel — which Stephan joked intimidated other developers who came by to tour the property — is its resort-quality 24-hour fitness center, which could legitimately be called a health club. There’s also a fully outfitted pool with a communal kitchen. For that matter, the kitchens in the units are decidedly not kitchenettes, even in studios, and every unit has its own washer and dryer, which Stephan said was never even up for debate.

Eastown has a specially designed dine-and-work desk area in 284 of the project’s studios and one-bedrooms — including a printer drawer. And there are custom triple-paned windows to keep people who need to sleep during the day ensconced from the cacophony of Hollywood Boulevard right outside. Stephan demonstrated the windows during rush hour traffic, and the blaring car horns — and construction equipment — went silent.

Stephan acknowledged he was attracted to Eastown mainly because of “the size and magnitude of the land offering,” rare for an infill site in Los Angeles, but he also saw it as an opportunity to create a walkable, New York-style neighborhood in an area that seemed to be craving it. They curated the retail tenants, bringing in names such as Sushi of Gari, a forthcoming Shake Shack and the obligatory SoulCycle.

Punjabi songs will always sound fresh: Sachin-Jigar

Composer duo Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya, who have worked on the music of “A Flying Jatt”, loved using Punjabi phonetics in the forthcoming film. They are of the opinion that Punjabi songs always sound fresh.

The movie is directed by Remo D'Souza, with whom Sachin-Jigar have earlier worked with for “ABCD” and its sequel. For those movies, they churned out experimental music, but in “A Flying Jatt”, they have created "fun filled" tunes which are as commercial "as was required".

“For kids and families, 'A Flying Jatt' is going to be a toast. So along with Remo sir, we have usually done experimental stuff like 'ABCD' and its sequel. But this time we have gone as fun-filled and commercial as was required,” Sachin told bollywood country.

“There is a love ballad that's our personal favourite and there's one bada** dance tune. These are quite mainstream. But more fun are the couple of songs that are so 'Panju' (Punjabi) in nature.

"It was great fun using these Punjabi phonetics. No matter how many Punjabi songs come through this language, they will always sound full of life and freshness,” Jigar added.

While the Indian superhero film has been choreographed and directed by Remo D'Souza, the film stars actors Tiger Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kay Kay Menon, Amrita Singh and professional wrestler Nathan Jones in lead roles.

'The Real Housewives of Orange County’ Recap: Tamra Judge Gossips About Vicki Gunvalson's Daughter Briana Amid Health Crisis

Ice cold! The Real Housewives of Orange County's Monday, July 18, episode was titled “Frozen Assets,” and for good reason. From frozen friendships to frozen sperm, this one had it all! Did one of the friendships thaw out due to unforeseen circumstances? Read on to find out.

The episode picked up at the beach party where the previous one left off. Vicki Gunvalson was chatting with former friend Tamra Judge about moving past all the drama surrounding the cancer diagnosis of her ex, Brooks Ayers. Was the chill in the air due to Tamra’s poor reception of Vicki’s excuses? No, it was actually cold out, so the women moved inside.

Vicki stayed focused on her goal of talking to each of the Housewives individually, so she cornered Shannon Beador for a hug that Shannon very clearly did not want. Then, Vicki apologized, saying, “You guys were right, and I was wrong.”

Shannon countered that she still didn’t believe Vicki didn’t know Ayers was lying about his cancer. Just like the conversations with Heather Dubrow and Tamra, this one didn’t end with much closure. Vicki began to cry, and Shannon coldly said that she didn’t think they could be friends again.

Meghan King Edmonds, on the other hand, had plenty of friends. Heather and Kelly Dodd, who both conceived via IVF, helped Meghan with the shots she had to give herself in order to have a baby with her husband using his frozen sperm. That’s how they party in Orange County!

Vicki wandered over to where Meghan was doing her needlework, and the OG Housewife continued crying. She begged the assembled women to be her friends again, and Meghan shot back that they were never friends. A disgusted Kelly led Vicki from her house, telling the camera in a confessional, “I’ve been ganged up [on] by girls many times in my life, and when I see someone doing that to somebody else, I want to protect that person!”

Whoop(ing Cough) It Up

Meghan and her husband, Jim Edmonds, went to get the frozen sperm that he had saved up just in case he ever wanted to have another kid after his vasectomy. They just stuck the cryotank in their car, and away they went.

Jimmy frustrated Meghan by showing no interest in the IVF process, and also by leaving for work while she underwent surgeries and procedures. Once again, her mother was coming into town to hold her hand through it all.

Vicki knows a thing or two about holding her daughter’s hand through tough medical situations. The next scene showed her rushing her daughter, Briana Culberson, to the hospital after she complained of difficulty breathing. (Last episode, Vicki moved Briana from Oklahoma to California, so she could help her through her terrible infection, remember?) The RHOC camera crew stayed back as ambulances rushed around, but mics caughtVicki sobbing as her daughter was taken away.

Here’s where it got really crazy, so stay with Us! Tamra’s son Ryan Vieth was once engaged to a woman named Sarah Rodriguez. They broke up, but Tamra was always on Ryan’s case about making things right with the mother of his child. Now, who do you think just so happened to be at the gas station that Vicki pulled over at to call 911 when she realized she couldn’t drive Briana to the hospital fast enough? That’s right: Sarah!

Sarah offered to go to Vicki’s house to watch Briana’s kids at the same time Vicki texted Tamra about what was going on. Tamra called Sarah to ask her to head over to Vicki’s to help out, only to learn that Sarah was already on her way. Later, she recounted to They gossiped about whether Vicki had forced Briana to move away from her husband, Ryan — who was still stationed in Oklahoma by the Army — by promising her a free house. So no, maybe Tamra wasn’t Vicki’s friend after all.

Wait … but then, Shannon read Tamra an email that she planned to send Vicki. Shannon was inviting Vicki to her upcoming party, even though she did not want to pursue a friendship. Tamra chastised her gently for how “passive-aggressive” and “backhanded” it was, then forced her to rewrite the invitation in a kinder way. Tamra also advised Shannon to just forgive and forget. Uh, this is giving Us whiplash.

Caesars Entertainment Operating Company Repayment Sought

Caesars Entertainment Operating Company filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court a motion authorizing the Debtors to make a cash distribution to bank claimholders in order to pay down $300 million in principal amounts outstanding under the Company’s pre-petition credit agreement.

The motion explains, “The Amended Bank RSA is a comprehensive compromise between the Debtors, CEC, and the First Lien Bank Lenders. For their part, among other things, the Debtors agreed to use good-faith efforts to seek authority to repay, in cash, $300 million of the principal amount outstanding under the Prepetition Credit Agreement, amounts the Debtors otherwise would be required to re-pay at some point, whether pursuant to a chapter 11 plan, in a chapter 7 liquidation, or otherwise. The Debtors believe that the proposed payment of less than 6 % of the principal amount outstanding under their prepetition credit facility is reasonable in light of the continued delay in a plan distribution to the First Lien Bank Lenders on account of their senior secured claims as well as in light of the expected future risks associated with the potential for further litigation at the plan confirmation stage.”

The motion continues, “Situated at the top of the Debtors’ capital structure, the First Lien Bank Lenders hold claims under four term loans issued pursuant to the Debtors’ Prepetition Credit Agreement, which claims totalled approximately $5.35 billion as of the Petition Date, which amount has continued to, and will continue to, accrue (collectively, the ‘Bank Claims’)….In addition, this payment would also reduce the postpetition interest owed on account of the $300 million of Bank Claims being repaid (under the current Plan, the Bank Guaranty Settlement would be reduced by an estimated $20.7 million, assuming the pay down occurs on or around August 20, 2016, and an Effective Date of June 30, 2017). The interest savings could be greater if it is determined that the First Lien Bank Lenders are entitled to a higher interest rate under a different chapter 11 plan.”

'Overwatch' updates: New characters available to play; Blizzard Entertainment still fixing penalty bug

Players of "Overwatch" have been waiting for the new characters to be available, who have been widely promoted for months. Now, they can enjoy long hours of gameplay as they choose the characters they want to play.

"Overwatch" now offers various characters for the players to enjoy. Each character may now be tested so players can decide who among them will be their favorite.

However, certain bugs have been experienced seen along the way, including the penalties that players receive.

The players are apparently receiving unjustified Skill Rating penalties when they suddenly disconnect from the game. In one of the Competitive mode's rule, players will be penalized if they leave early in the game.

They may suffer consequences such as losing Skill Points. In fact, they may even get banned.

The penalties should only be applied to those who intentionally quit the game, but players who find themselves accidentally disconnected observed that their Skill Points were also reduced.

This has got a lot of fans complaining about it, which prompted Blizzard to immediately address the issues. Game director Jeff Kaplan addressed the raging players immediately and announced on the game's forum that they are fixing the bugs, which will hopefully be resolved by next week.

However, he did not give further details on the cause of the bug.

The Competitive mode is created for players who want to gauge their skills. It is said to be a more serious mode than the Quick Play and the Brawl which players have to be at least level 25 to access.

Once players reach the required level, they will automatically be matched to other players with the same set of skills. There is also an option which allows players to battle with their group of friends.

The Competitive mode is available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. As for the penalty bug's official patch announcement, Blizzard Entertainment has yet to make one.
